Tanner FAris

Teacher. Dad. Ultra-endurance Cyclist.

Canada to Mexico 2nd All-Time • Oregon Coast Bike Route Fastest Known Time • Eugene → Seattle Fastest Known Time • 2x Northwest Nonstop Champion • Super Randonneur

Tanner Faris is a middle school math teacher from Eugene, Oregon. Growing up in Elmira, a small town in the nearby coastal foothills, Tanner learned from an early age that he had to ride really far to get anywhere or do anything.

Tanner began bike touring while attending the University of Oregon, during which he channeled his high tolerance for discomfort waiting in line for hours for Duck football games into being on a bike saddle for longer than anyone should ever to admit to.

Starting in 2022, Tanner ditched the touring gear for a more aerodynamic setup, challenging himself to see how far one person could ride under their own power. He has since pushed his limits competing in multi-day unsupported bikepacking races, individual time trial brevets, and personal sicko sufferfests.

Tanner is married to a fellow middle school teacher and endlessly supportive partner, MJ. They have two small humans who also love riding bikes and routinely raid Daddy's stash of junk food...ahem...fuel.
